Well it will depend if we want to follow a metaphor for what the application do or a semantic metaphor, so something that reminds the application name. Remember? I still keep 'em around. Heck, I *made* one just a few years back. Of course, there are other, better tracker formats (s3m at least!). Tracker would be a fine direction to go for game music, it really isn't very retro (some MIDI - and tracker - can sound really good). It also allows /dynamic/ music, which can't be done with recorded stuff. I would LOVE to see a timidity fork as a KDE library! This would be great for adding MIDI players, trackers that use MIDI (e.g. IT), and music score editors (e.g. Finale); a niche that KDE currently does not fill. Least dependencies, or least /non-KDE/ dependencies? :-)

Hi, thanks for your participation, nice icon :) However, I like the current one better. It's in CrystalSVG-style so it blends in with the KDE defaults. Also, it represents the functionality of the application ("do housework on your folders") rather than its name. That said, I see room for improvement in the current one, it's not really catchy, etc, so if you could make an Oxygen-style icon that resembles something like drawers (or come up with a better metaphor), that would be terrific. Dear list, for Debian-Edu and Kde-Edu, I started collecting some free sound files that could be used, e.g. as background music for educational games or as acoustic feedback whatsoever. Here, I like to point out different options to provide sound - and discuss something like a guideline. We are quite used to compressed music like mp3 or ogg vorbis - and I think many developers go for that format nowadays. However, providing tunes of several minutes, you will consume some MiB. For instance, gcompris using speech files in several languages eats up more than 200 MiB, so we can hardly put it on any live or installing CD. From here we can move into two directions: Reducing sound quality (lower bitrate, mono sound, lower sample rate, 8 bit sound) will soon lead to unsatisfying compromises. In my eyes, midi or other tracking formats (remember MOD files?) could be a good option here, providing good stereo sounds that may sound a bit retro but are appropriate for games. In this matter, I am curious what sound facilities are encoded in kdelibs to be used from any application: Is there any matching library to produce satisfying sound by a list of note events? Or do we need dependencies towards timidity to provide such sound sequences? If so, we should look for a way to produce best sound with least dependencies, maybe even by "calculating" (rendering) our music by composition tools like nyquist. What do you think? I for one see no point in showing two icons for this at the same time, but I do agree about the color. I think that it is a toggled action - it is either spam or it is not. Hi, in KDE's default icon theme (crystal) the button "classify as spam" in kmail is green. The button "classify as NOT spam" is also green. I don't think that this is a good choice. You can see them in the attachment. Please provide an icon for "classify as spam" which is red or a trash can or a red trash can or whatever.
